# Mastodon updates legal structure and leadership

Mastodon is updating legal terminology due to changes in its German organisation. The entity is now called Mastodon GmbH, not gGmbH. A new managing director, Marius Rothermund, has been appointed. The project remains non-profit with existing fiscal sponsors.
