# Facebook Messenger adds end-to-end encryption

Facebook Messenger rolls out end-to-end encryption via Signal Protocol. The feature, called Secret Conversations, is built on the open-source Signal Protocol. It does not enable encryption for all messages by default, unlike WhatsApp or Signal.
