# Chicago Landmark Honors Environmental Justice Legacy

The Shop Building at Altgeld Gardens is now a Chicago landmark. It served as a hub for environmental justice activism and features a memorial wall honoring residents who died of cancer from pollution. The designation protects its exterior and the wall from demolition.
