# Measure ES: A Tax in Disguise

Measure ES proposes a city tax disguised as a school surplus. The district has a $12 million annual city payment ending in 2027. Last year's surplus was one-time and covers only half a year's loss. Future deficits could reach $55 million without the city payment.
