# Object beyond Pluto may be dwarf planet

Astronomers at the Vera C. Rubin Observatory detected a new object beyond Pluto's orbit, designated 2026 ED138. Preliminary analysis suggests it could be one of the largest and brightest objects in that region. First observed on March 4, 2026, it was studied in detail from mid-October 2026.
