# 138-Year-Old Nonprofit Closes Amid Funding Cuts

Heartland Human Care Services will close after 138 years due to funding cuts and financial liabilities. The nonprofit says workforce reductions and unemployment insurance costs made operations unsustainable. All remaining employees will be laid off by Dec. 31.
