Diagnose stale HTTP content with ETag evidence

A browser refresh alone cannot identify why an HTTP representation looks old. ETag validation, response age, cache directives and variants can tell different stories.

Unlock an original three-request probe and a response-interpretation worksheet. It records selected headers and bounded body samples, compares a baseline with a conditional request, and makes a revalidation request. The probe was exercised against a controlled local ETag server.

Scope: ordinary unauthenticated GET requests to a URL you are authorized to inspect. It does not expose private request headers, flush a CDN, prove the origin is current or fully model browser caching. Verified with Python 3.12 on 18 October 2026. #HTTP #Caching
