Retrieve one archived page without a huge WARC download

Common Crawl stores captured pages inside large compressed WARC files. Downloading an entire file to recover one capture can waste time and bandwidth.

Unlock a CDX-to-byte-range workflow, a fully exercised small-record example and checks that prevent silently treating a full-file response as a tiny range result. The research test obtained and decompressed one 12,675-byte compressed member with HTTP 206.

Scope: public Common Crawl captures and their provenance, not a guarantee that a missing website was crawled. Index services can time out, and archived content retains its original rights. The sale is the retrieval procedure, not ownership of the captured website. Checked 18 October 2026. #WebArchives #CommonCrawl
