Download Greek and Latin texts with edition provenance

A searchable ancient text is not automatically the edition, translation or machine-readable structure needed for a reproducible project. Identifiers and per-edition metadata matter.

This kit points to the maintained Perseus Greek and Latin source repositories, provides two verified TEI XML examples, and explains how to retain edition, language, citation structure and rights evidence when building a local corpus.

The purchased material is a retrieval and provenance workflow, not ownership of the texts or a substitute for checking each edition's license. GitHub/raw-file routes were checked on 18 October 2026; the older Hopper help service was unavailable during the check and is not required by this workflow. #Classics #TEI
