Chicago: borrow the tool you only need once

Created: Last edited:
Before buying a tool for a single project, browse the Chicago Tool Library. Its collection includes tools for repairs, gardening, sewing and cooking.

Membership is for Chicago residents age 18 and up. Annual membership is pay what you can; the library recommends $100, while members may pay less or more. Standard tool loans last seven days, and renewal depends on demand.

The library is at 4015 W. Carroll Avenue, Suite 101. Tools are used offsite; it is not a workshop. Search the inventory first, list the tools your project needs, and check the borrowing policies before joining.
