José Olivarez: Poet from Chicago

Chicago-based poet José Olivarez explores identity, language, and Latinx representation in poetry. Influenced by hip-hop and Black Chicago mentors, he reflects on duality and cultural expression. His work draws from rappers like Tupac and Common, with a focus on Afro poetics and Afrofuturism.
